Greg Sover Band
Greg Sover is releasing his EP “Jubilee” on January 8th and we invite you to join us to celebrate at World Cafe Live. “Jubilee” is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed “Songs of a Renegade,” Sover’s 2016 debut album, which put him on the map and announced that he is one of the top emerging blues artists in Philadelphia and beyond. Sover has gotten airplay not only on WXPN but on blues radio around the country and around the world. “Songs of a Renegade” also received great reviews in renowned national and international publications. This is some of what was said:

“Promising young vocalist and guitarist Greg Sover, operating out of Philadelphia, is a highly charged interpreter of blues-rock who employs a thunder-and-lightning style for most of the originals on his debut album. A different musical personality, a more soulful one, emerges when he dials down the aggressive fury to put across the undisguised blues “After Me” and two tuneful hybrids, “Déjà Vu” and “Cherie.”
– Frank-John Hadley, DownBeat, November 2017

“’Songs of a Renegade’ is an exceptional debut release for Greg Sover, an artist from whom we should be hearing much more from in the future.”
– Graham Clarke, Blues Bytes, September 2017

“A self-taught guitarist, singer, and songwriter, [Greg Sover’s] debut release, ‘Songs of a Renegade,’ is a blues-rock gem.”
– ¬¬JD Nash, American Blues Scene, August 29, 2017

The power of “Songs of a Renegade” and Sover’s dynamic live performances are due in large part to his band of three Philly veterans with extensive resumes – bassist, musical director and album co-producer Garry Lee, guitarist Allen James and drummer Tom Walling. The three are best known as Deb Callahan’s solid backing band. Lee, James and Walling will be joined by keyboardist Wally Smith, violinist Joseph Arnold and cellist Yoni Draiblate at this performance.

This show at World Cafe Live will be on the heels of the Greg Sover Band’s appearance at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January, 2018. The band will be competing on behalf of the Steel City Blues Society of Phoenixville, PA.
The Peace Creeps
The Peace Creeps is the current musical project featuring former A’s captivating front man Richard Bush. Richard and his A’s were the darlings of Philly in the 1970s and early ’80s and had the hits “After Last Night” and “A Woman’s Got the Power,” which was later recorded by both Clarence Clemons and Jennifer Holliday. They released two albums on Arista Records and toured nationally, but they disbanded due to disputes with their record company. After that Bush had a few other bands and then took a long hiatus to write and record. Finally, along with guitarist John Marchiano, bassist Roy Fisher and drummer Jeff Pancoast, The Peace Creeps were born. Bush and songwriting partner, AJay McLaughlin’s clever lyricism, along with their Elvis Costello–like wit, Faces-like looseness and the pop sensibilities of the Beatles are reasons for their appeal. Their second album, the backward looking/forward sounding “Time Machine,” is available at CD Baby.
